By joining the Ranger Tour, you are not only going on an unforgettable adventure, but also actively contributing to the preservation of the unique landscape of Arpa. A portion of the proceeds from the tour goes towards wildlife monitoring, anti-poaching efforts, and habitat restoration for wild animals. Your participation helps us preserve the region’s rich biodiversity and save some endangered species such as the Caucasian leopard.

  • Welcomeofthegroupandgettoknowthe rangers. The tour begins with an introduction to the ranger, who will accompany you to the “Arpa” protected landscape.

  • Animal observation. Stop where you will learn about the rich biodiversity of the landscape and get to see Bezoar goats.

  • Coffee breakinnature. A coffee break at the ranger lodge, surrounded by the beauty of nature, is the best time to relax and enjoy the view.

  • Checking of photo cards. Inspecting the camera traps installed on the territory. This helps the ranger to conduct research for protecting the wild animals.
  • Return to the ranger’s lodge. It’s time to look at the best shots of the camera traps, and also learn how the daily work of the rangers is crucial in preserving the wildlife of the protected areas.

  • End the day with a cozy dinner. Together with the ranger you will prepare a delicious dinner from fresh local products. The group will share their thoughts and impressions about the tour.

  • Return. Return to the village of Areni. We hope to see you again!

Located in the Vayots Dzor Province, Arpa Protected Landscape is the first publicly protected area in Armenia. This area covers over 3,000 hectares of land and includes the picturesque Noravank Gorge. The landscape is home to a variety of endemic animals and plants, including many endangered species. It is an important ecological corridor for large mammals such as the Caucasian leopard, Armenian mouflon, bezoar goat, brown bear, etc.
