“Citizen Science: Engaging Youth in Biodiversity Monitoring” Project

Project Objective:
To empower and engage youth from the Areni community in the Vayots Dzor region through citizen science, involving them in community-based biodiversity monitoring.

As part of the program, around 32 young people from the Areni community participated in field hikes in various protected areas and natural habitats. They received training to study and identify local biodiversity.
Following their training, they conducted educational sessions with approximately 159 other youth in their community, focusing on biodiversity conservation and the use of the iNaturalist environmental app to collect and document data on local flora and fauna.
