We care about the preservation of the natural environment, particularly the emphasis on the protection and conservation of flora and fauna. We contribute to the reproduction of biodiversity, prevent harmful human activities on nature, maintain ecological balance and landscape diversity. “Arpa” protected landscape includes 3 landscape zonations, stretching from the semi-desert zone to the steppe zone, and sub-alpine zone.
“Arpa” protected landscape has a very rich flora: 885 species. There are 45 endemic species of Armenia, Transcaucasia, South Transcaucasia and Caucasus, most of which are registered in the RA Red Book.
The fauna includes 39 species of mammals, 14 of which are registered in the Red Book of RA, and 11 in the IUCN Red List. Among them are the Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra), Marbled polecat (Vormela peregusna), the Bezoar goat (Capra aegagrus), the Armenian mouflon (Ovis orientalis), the Brown bear (Ursus arctos), the Wildcat (Felis silvestris) and the Caucasian (Persian) leopard (Panthera pardus).
