Gndasar is famous for its rare birds such as Caspian Snowcock / Tetraogallus caspius/ registered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The Caspian Snowcock is an endemic species to Armenia which can be found especially in Gndasar, Vayots Dzor. This heavy flying bird can easily avoid predators and quickly gain speed in flight while escaping from an enemy. The species is a year-round resident although makes some small vertical movements during winter time.
